How to Improve the Accuracy and Finish of CNC Machined Parts
Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on several CNC machined parts lately and I’m looking for advice on achieving higher precision and better surface finish. What factors have the most impact on dimensional accuracy and surface quality such as tooling, feed rate, material type, or machine calibration?
Also, how do you minimize tool marks or burrs without increasing production time too much? I’d love to hear your experiences or recommendations for specific techniques, cutting fluids, or post processing methods that have worked for you.
Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!

Re: How to Improve the Accuracy and Finish of CNC Machined P
Precision and surface finish in CNC machined parts depend mainly on tooling, cutting parameters, and machine setup. Use sharp, coated tools and make sure they’re properly balanced to reduce chatter and burrs. Optimize spindle speed and feed rate since higher speed with lower feed usually gives a smoother finish. Keep your machine calibrated and ensure rigid fixturing to avoid vibration. Apply the right cutting fluid to cool and clear chips efficiently. For burr control, use climb milling and sharp tools, then finish with light polishing, tumbling, or bead blasting. Small improvements in each step greatly enhance both accuracy and finish quality of CNC machined parts.
